DIY Camping 'starts with the Internet'
12th June 2008
Taking the DIY approach when planning a camping vacation could
save more money than booking a packaged camping holiday during the
school holidays in August, the Telegraph reported this week.
According to the newspaper, investing in a good camping
guidebook written for caravanners and campers with tents is often a
good place to begin planning a camping holiday, particularly as
many focus on the facilities available in the site.
Meanwhile, for those holidaymakers looking for a site off the
beaten track, a Cool Camping guidebook may be just the ticket, as
many of the sites featured have picturesque views and quiet
locations.
Other useful sources for campsite and touring caravan site
information include the three caravan and camping guides published
annually by the AA.
These include detailed reviews and ratings for campsites in
Britain and Ireland, France and Europe - the last of which features
a selection of sites across the continent that have been inspected
by the Camping and Caravanning Club.
Last month, the Guardian listed a number of "fantastic campsites
by the pub" which may appeal to UK holidaymakers. Destinations on
the list include Gunwalloe Caravan Park in Cornwall and Greenhills
Holiday Park in Derbyshire.
