Tips and advice - Motorhome insurance
Towergate Bakers have years of experience insuring motorhomes
and so we are well placed to advise on the simple things you can do
to reduce the risk of a claim in the first place.
Some helpful tips
- Motorhomes are highly attractive to thieves. To help to ensure
it's not your motorhome they take, use a wheel clamp at all times,
when parked. If you can afford it, an alarm and/or tracking device
will also make the thief's life much harder.
- Never leave expensive items on view and always lock your doors
and windows when you are not in your motorhome or have retired for
the night.
- If you are not planning to use your motorhome for a long time,
take home all valuable items. Also, if possible, remove the
upholstery, which is often targeted by thieves.
- Never leave your ignition keys in the motorhome.
- Consider carefully where you store your motorhome. Secure
storage sites, especially CASSOA-approved facilities, are highly
effective in preventing motorhome theft.
- If you have a generator, why not chain it to the motorhome
chassis.
- If you haven't used your motorhome for a while, carefully check
the condition of your tyres before taking it on the road. Tyres can
degrade if left standing for lengthy periods of time and this could
increase the risk of a blow-out.
