Tips and advice - Trailer tent insurance
Towergate Bakers have years of experience in providing trailer
tent insurance and folding caravan insurance, so we are well placed
to advise on the simple things you can do to reduce the risk of a
claim in the first place.
Some helpful tips
- Thieves will usually choose to steal the trailer tent or
folding caravan with the least protection. Ensure yours is
protected by using a good quality “box-type” hitchlock or a wheel
clamp at all times.
- Never leave expensive items on view and always lock your door
and windows when you are not in your folding caravan, or have
retired for the night.
- Try never to fold away the canvas of your trailer tent whilst
still damp. If you have to, open it out as soon as you can so that
it can dry out. This will reduce the risk of mildew, fungus and
rotting.
- When loading your folding caravan, put heavy items over the
axle – this will improve stability and reduce the effects of
snaking.
- When on site, if you have any expensive items you have to keep
outside (for example a generator or cycle), why not chain them to
the chassis.
- If you have left your trailer tent or folding caravan unused
for some time, carefully check the condition of your tyres before
taking it on the road – tyres can degrade if left standing for
lengthy periods of time, increasing the risk of a blow-out.
